Each year since 2010, The Georgia Kings Sports Foundation has presented the “Coach Chris” Award. Named in recognition of Coach Chris Early, this award is presented to one or more players, a coach or a volunteer in the Georgia Kings organization who consistently demonstrates passion for and dedication to the game of basketall. “The incredible passion and commitment for the game of basketball (and for life) exemplified by Coach Chris is the same passion that I want for all players and Coaches” said Glen Davis, Georgia Kings President, General Manager. Unfortunately Coach Chris was tragically killed in an automobile accident during his very first season with the Georgia Kings. The Coach Chris Award memorializes his contributions to our organization.
“I am pleased to present the 2018 Coach Chris Award to Noah Allen and Nicholas Allen, members of our 4th and 5th grade teams respectively” said Davis during a special event to honor the award recipients. Coach Chris’ parents, Steve & Linda Early joined Davis in the presentation of the award. “Our son Chris loved playing AAU and high school basketball (and then coaching for the Georgia Kings)” said Steve Early. “Although he was not always the biggest or the most talented kid on the floor, he always gave 110%. This award is special because it honors other players who shared his passion and commitment to the game of basketball”.
This was Nicholas’ second season with the Georgia Kings while this was Noah’s first. Both boys demonstrated commitment and passion during tryouts and as a result both played up a grade level. They were both extremely coachable players and demonstrated leadership on and off the court. They maintained a positive attitude and were respectful to the Coaches and fellow players.
Noah is 9 years old and attends Wood Acres School. He will be entering 4th grade in the fall. His favorite subject in school is Math and he would like to become an inventor when he grows up. Noah has played academy soccer and baseball in the past but has decided to focus on basketball. He loves the Georgia Kings and hopes to play for the Walton Feeder Program.
Nicholas is 10 years old and attends Fulton Science Academy Private School. He will be entering 6th grade in the fall. His favorite subject in school is also Math. His favorite food is sushi. Nicholas also previously played academy soccer and baseball but has decided to spend most of his time playing basketball. He loves the Georgia Kings and hopes to play for the Walton Feeder Program.
Please join me in congratulating Noah and Nicholas Allen on being named recipients of this year’s Coach Chris Award.
