New programs and events make 2017 even more exciting!

Georgia Kings Basketball has finalized preparations for the 2017 AAU/YBOA Season.  This year promises to be one of the best ever with new programs and events throughout the season.  Georgia Kings will have 4th grade through 11th grade teams this year as follows:

  • Trey Stevenson will step down from his 8th grade team to coach a 5th grade team.  Trey will also continue in his role as Director of Player Skills & Development.
  • Scott Pohlman returns in his second year as Head Coach, this year for the 6th grade team.  "Scotty" was an outstanding basketball player at Auburn and returns to the Georgia Kings to share his incredible talent with the youth in our area.
  • Drew Ames returns as Head Coach for the 7th grade team.  Drew's 6th grade team was almost unbeatable last year and he plans to continue his winning ways in 2017.
  • "Q - The Trainer" joins Georgia Kings Basketball this year as Head Coach for the 8th grade team.  Q is a Certified Fitness Trainer and believes that being in shape can give you a competitive advantage.  Q also played basketball in college and overseas before settling in the Marietta area.
  • Bryan Morris returns as the Head Coach for the 9th grade team this year.  Bryan's unique coaching style resulted in a winning season last year and many of the same players are expected to return.
  • Dwayne Moore and Michael Ofili will join Georgia Kings Basketball this year as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for the 10th grade team.  Last season Ofili served as Assistant Coach for the 9th grade team and is eager to work with these same players again this season.
  • Tim Raffa returns this year as the Head Coach for the 11th grade after a very successful season as Assistant Coach for 10th grade team last year.

We will kick off the season this year with Fitness Training at Just Fitness, February 3 - 5, 2017.  Players in the 4th through 8th grades will train from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. each night.  Players in the 9th through 11th grades will train from 7:00 until 8:00 each night.  Led by Q - The Trainer, players will have the opportunity to get in shape before the Skills Clinic, Open Gym and Tryouts.  The cost is only $45 per player for all three sessions.

Fitness Training will be immediately followed by a Skills Clinic where Trey Stevenson and Tim Williams will focus on helping individual players enhance specific skills.  The Skills Clinic will be held Monday through Thursday, February 6th - 9th at Dodgen Middle School.  Players in grades 5 - 8 should attend from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Players in grades 9 - 11 should attend from 8:00 until 10:00 p.m. each night.  The costs to participate in the Skills Clinic is $150 for all four sessions and includes Vertimax Advanced Basketball Training at no additional charge.

Open Gym will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Dodgen Middle School.  Players interested in trying out for the 4th through 8th grade teams should attend from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Players interested in trying out for the 9th through 11th grade teams should attend from 8:00 until 10:00 p.m.  There is no cost to participate in this event.

Tryouts this year will be held on Tuesday, February 14th through Thursday, February 16th at Dodgen.  This change was made to ensure tryouts were completed prior to the Cobb County Winter Break.  For a complete listing of dates and times for each grade, please see 2017 Season Details Tryout Flyer.

You must register and pay fees for all events and complete a Medical Waiver form online for all events prior to the scheduled start date.  If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact info@georgiakings.com.
